Business Automation Technician – up to $40/hr + Company Vehicle + 100% Employer‑Paid Family Healthcare. Knott Mechanical is a family‑oriented company offering competitive pay and benefits.

Job Description We have an immediate need for a skilled Business Automation Technician to cover the Central Maryland market. We are known for exceptional service in HVAC, Plumbing, and Building Automation.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and program building automation systems, developing project scopes with sales teams and clients.

Install and program each system per scope and company standards, identify required materials and equipment.

Build and program systems to meet scope requirements.

Develop project schedules and strategies, managing implementation to ensure success.

Inspect implemented systems for compliance, detecting malfunctions.

Consult with engineers and contractors on system operation and configuration.

Document system design, programming, and sequence of operation per company standards.

Ensure required documentation is available during project execution.

Preventative Maintenance and Emergency Service

Assist BAS and HVAC field technicians with emergency calls, troubleshooting, repairing, and recommending revisions.

Deliver technical support, coaching, and direction to end users and field technicians.

Oversee and perform scheduled preventive maintenance on building automation equipment.

Corporate Standards and Documentation

Maintain company documentation per established policies; handle proprietary information appropriately.

Follow continuous improvement concepts and high‑quality standards.

Develop and maintain standards for design, programming, and project execution.

Create graphics for a web‑access database with instructions for customer, technician, and admin access.

Sales Support

Assist with site surveys, project scopes, building points, and material lists.

Promote customer relations and assist with contract retention.

Maintain documentation of services provided.

Professional Development

Maintain all necessary certifications for building automation systems serviced at Knott Mechanical.

Education and Work Experience

HVAC or Electrical Journeyman’s License.

Experience with project management.

Ability to read and understand blueprints, submittals, and project documentation.

Additional Requirements

Valid driver’s license.

Essential Knowledge Required

Comprehensive understanding of design, programming, installation, preventive maintenance, and service of Honeywell Webs building automation management systems.

Fundamental knowledge of computer networks.

Knowledge of preventive maintenance and service for systems such as Tridium (Niagara AX & Niagara 4), Distech, Johnson Controls, Carrier, Easy IO, TAC/I‑Net, and Trane.

Essential Skills Required

Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.

Strong oral and written communication.

Professional demeanor; ability to juggle tasks, handle difficult people, and troubleshoot.

Project good judgment and prioritize projects and activities.

Programming & Troubleshooting Expertise

Honeywell field controllers.

Spyder Controllers.

Stryker Controllers.

JACE (Niagara AX & Niagara 4).
