Job Overview – Railcar Mechanic
As a Railcar Mechanic, you will play a hands‑on role in maintaining and repairing railcars to meet industry and safety standards. Your work directly supports safe rail operations and uninterrupted freight movement. This is a physical, skilled position well‑suited for individuals with mechanical aptitude who enjoy working with tools and seeing tangible results from their efforts.
A Day in the Life
Inspect railcars for defects or wear
Repair or replace steel components
Cut, grind, and weld worn or damaged parts
Use torches, welders, grinders, and hand tools
Troubleshoot mechanical issues
Follow all safety procedures and identify hazards
What You'll Bring
Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Safety‑first mindset and reliable work ethic
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver's license
Ability to work in an outdoor, industrial environment
Prior railcar repair experience is not required. Certified welding experience is preferred, and all necessary training, tools, and PPE are provided.
