Fabrication Craftsman at Monrovia Plants
Location: Portland, Oregon Metropolitan Area
Salary: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00

Employment Status Full‑time, Year‑Round
Shift Monday - Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (subject to change based on business needs)
About the Role The Fabrication Craftsman is involved in automation and mechanization projects integrating cutting‑edge equipment from all over the world into the daily operations of our nurseries as well as designing, manufacturing or rebuilding old equipment to meet each nursery’s needs.
What You’ll Do
Develop and lead innovative process improvements.
Provide metal fabrication and design.
Promote strong relationships with vendors, industry groups, and community to promote the Monrovia brand and establish a strong industry network.
Ensure a safe working environment in all aspects of our operations.
Lead by example the implementation of MNQ Lean Six Sigma.
Perform other related duties to benefit the mission of the company as assigned.
Who You Are
Basic knowledge of power transmission (v‑belts, chains, and gearboxes).
Good math skills.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Open to feedback.
Punctual and highly organized.
Flexible to work in a team environment supporting fellow craftsmen and coaches.
Open to working in an area with moderate noise levels that may be wet and humid with odors or airborne particles.
Can work in inclement weather conditions (hot, cold, and rainy).
Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams preferred.
Can lift up to 30 pounds repeatedly or 50+ pounds on occasion.
Full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, stoop, stand, walk, bend over, and squat; able to use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and adjust focus, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Desired Skills
Willingness to learn new skills and jobs.
Metal fabrication and design skills.
A welding certification preferred.
Machining experience preferred.
CNC programming experience preferred.
PLC programming/wiring experience preferred.
