Summary Estes Energetics is seeking a skilled and versatile Maintenance Technician to support the reliable operation of our manufacturing facility on Camp Minden in Minden, LA.
This role requires expertise across different trades, including strong mechanical skills and some carpentry expertise.
The technician will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of equipment—including production machinery, rotating equipment, HVAC systems, boilers, plumbing, and other general facility repairs.
The role involves close collaboration with the production team to ensure safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing plant.
Essential Functions
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems to identify root causes and determine appropriate repairs.
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance and repairs on equipment, machinery, and facility infrastructure.
Install new equipment and systems, ensuring proper alignment, functionality, and integration with existing infrastructure.
Perform facility maintenance tasks such as lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and general building repairs to support a safe and functional work environment.
Build, install, and repair wooden structures and fixtures as needed.
Execute and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, both manually and through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in both paper and electronic formats to ensure data integrity and compliance.
Follow all regulatory, environmental, and safety standards, including lock‑out/tag‑out and other safety protocols while performing work.
Competencies, Experience, and Education Required
Minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or plant environment.
Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems.
Execute carpentry tasks such as framing, wall and floor repairs, shelving, wood construction, and repairs around equipment.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment used in maintenance and repair tasks.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
Experience with equipment installation and system integration in an industrial environment.
Familiarity with facility maintenance basics, including plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and general repairs.
Competency using a CMMS and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
Knowledge of safety standards and procedures, including lock‑out/tag‑out, proper PPE usage, working at heights, and other OSHA regulations.
Strong organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to manage both paper and electronic records; proficiency in Excel.
Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a cross‑functional team.
Adaptability and problem‑solving ability in fast‑paced or high‑pressure situations.
High school diploma or GED.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses.
21 years of age or older.
Pass a pre‑employment drug test.
Pass State and Federal background checks.
Desired
General carpentry skills, including framing, drywall repair, minor construction, and maintenance of structural elements.
Work Environment The role is based primarily within an industrial setting focused on explosives manufacturing.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Comfortable sitting, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
Exposure to industrial machines, heat, cold, and explosives.
Frequent movement through a manufacturing environment.
Use of personal protective equipment appropriate to the work location.
Salary $24.00 - $36.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full‑time position.
Typical workdays are a '4x10' schedule—10 hours per day, 4 days per week—with a total of 40 hours each week to maintain full‑time status.
Occasional overtime and some weekends may be required during busy periods, such as maintenance shutdowns.
