Job Overview We are seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Mechanic to perform maintenance and repair work across a wide range of systems – plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration – within our Medical Center. This is a third‑shift position that requires independent response to maintenance, repair, and emergency trouble calls during non‑standard hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure uninterrupted facility operations and patient care.

Work Arrangement On‑site, third‑shift only.

Departmental Preferences

Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems (practical test).

Ability to comprehend and understand work order literature and requests.

Capability to work and maneuver in sensitive and obstructive areas within the facilities.

Willingness to learn all aspects of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Training : High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience : 3–4 years of trade or general building maintenance and repair.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : Valid N.C. driver’s license with acceptable driving history.

Communication Skills :

Read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.

Write simple correspondence.

Communicate effectively in one‑on‑one or small group situations.

Respond appropriately in emergency situations.

Respect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality.

Complete daily records, logs, and timesheets.

Physical Demands

Regular walking, reaching above and below shoulder level, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Climbs ladders and stairs frequently.

Regularly lifts, pushes, or pulls up to 20 lbs; frequently lifts 35 lbs; occasionally lifts 50 lbs or more.

Work Environment

May be exposed to high places, fumes, toxic chemicals, or risk of electrical shock.

Requires attendance at safety training and adherence to safety guidelines.

Noise level usually moderate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Respond to emergency maintenance calls after normal shop hours, weekends, and holidays; log calls and document actions; perform repairs or temporary fixes; notify supervisors as needed.

Conduct periodic inspections of facilities and equipment; perform preventive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, and communication systems.

Respond immediately to fire alarm systems; disengage electrical, water, or gas systems to protect occupants.

Assist with major repairs to electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and refrigeration equipment.

Advise management of facility condition and recommend improvements and upgrades.

Maintain documentation and maintenance records for regulatory compliance.

Perform other assigned duties incidental to the work described herein.
