Position Definition Temporary Water Distribution Operator I is an entry‑level position in training status, requiring immediate to general supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Learn to perform the tasks associated with maintenance and operation of a water distribution system.

Learn proper use of tools and equipment required for the job.

Under direction, participate in installation, repairs, and replacement of water mains, services, valves, fire hydrants, and water meters.

Interact with customers and act as a representative of the Company.

Perform meter reads, ons and offs, and field investigations.

Collect delinquent accounts.

Participate in routine maintenance activities such as system flushing, valve exercising, and fire hydrant maintenance.

Follow established policies and procedures for equipment repair to ensure proper working order.

Operate company vehicles and equipment according to safety procedures and policies.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Be available for emergency response 24 hours/day, seven days/week.

Work under immediate supervision.

Minimum Position Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Good communication skills.

General PC skills.

Valid California driver’s license.
