Essential Job Summary The Scale Operator will be mainly responsible for weighing in and weighing out solid waste vehicles from both company drivers and third‑party vendors/haulers. They will oversee receiving payments, checking loads, and always ensuring the safety of the landfill and scale.
Essential Job Functions
Serve as first point of contact for any drivers, customers, or other traffic at the scale house
Accurately calculate and process payments, weights, and other measurements
Verify incoming loads do not contain any unnecessary or inappropriate material
Perform various administrative tasks including regular filing, data entry and reporting
Provide general upkeep of the scale house
Additional duties as assigned
Work Environment
Required to use motor coordination such as typing, machine operating, etc. throughout the greater part of the workday
Daily exposure to physical environment including odors, loud noises, weather elements, etc.
Requirements And Qualifications
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
High school/GED education completed; higher education is a plus.
Minimum 2 years of warehouse environment experience.
Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.
Experience working with scales is strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of general computer skills.
Knowledgeable in the safe operation of all garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists, and jacking equipment.
Consistently capable of working independently to safely analyze and resolve problems.
Fluency in English required, Spanish bilingual is a plus.
