Key Responsibilities
Review/study MOT’s, blueprints, and sketches to determine operations to be performed on part
Determine fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, programs, and gages needed
Align and secure holding fixture, install cutting tools in proper holders, put holder in machine and set tool offsets
Ensure the inspection department workflow supports production needs
Load programs corresponding to the operation into the computer, check tools and programs are in correct order of operation, and edit program if necessary
Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as required
Set up and maintain proper inspection method for all machined parts and communicate with coworkers as necessary for smooth transition of work shifts
Perform in-process inspections
Complete all paperwork including MOTs, DMRs, Non-Conforming Material requests, and First Article Inspection Forms in accordance with our procedures and policies
Identify and record non-conforming parts as discrepant
Verify quantity, customer part number and revision to the MOT and Blueprints
Adhere to company policies and procedures, including ITAR and other compliance regulations
Basic Skills & Abilities
Basic use of CNC control, operation, and maintenance requirements
Read and understand B/P's, including assemblies, dimensions, tolerances, symbols, notes, abbreviations, geometric dimensions, tolerance, and other standard nomenclature per customer, government, or industry standards
Load material/parts into machine and programs
Daily maintenance on machine (checking fluid levels, cleaning out chips)
In-process inspection of parts
Enter tool offsets to compensate for tool wear
Replace worn or damaged tools (inserts, boring bars, end mills, drills, etc.)
Fill out the MOT and their Job Sheets properly
Maintain correct count of parts on the MOT for operations
Tagging hardware and recording discrepancies on proper paperwork for hardware known to the operator to be discrepant
Record inspection data at proper intervals per the Inspection Traveler or other company paperwork
Communicate any job-related issues / questions (part feature, program, inspection, etc.) to lead person for resolution / clarification
Maintain a clean and organized workspace
Report all machine malfunctions to the lead
Read initial and date reject histories attached to MOTs
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand for the majority of the work shift, reach overhead, and bend to the floor. Exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Visual acuity: Ability to detect surface defects, tool wear, or measurement deviations - good near vision for reading drawings, measurements, and digital readouts, and computer screens.
Must tolerate exposure to machining dust, oils, and moderate noise levels in a manufacturing environment.
