Propane Service Technician Helper - Stephens City Branch

Responsibilities The Propane Service Technician Helper assists licensed propane technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of propane systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. This role supports safe work practices, ensures equipment readiness, and helps provide excellent customer service while learning industry skills.
Key Responsibilities Service & Installation Support
Assist with installing propane tanks, regulators, gas lines, and related equipment
Help perform leak tests, pressure checks, and system diagnostics
Prepare job sites, load/unload tools, and maintain organized work areas
Support technicians during maintenance visits and emergency service calls
Safety & Compliance
Follow all company safety procedures, state codes, and NFPA 58 propane regulations
Properly use PPE and help maintain a safe work environment
Assist with purging cylinders, setting tanks, and securing installations
Customer Interaction
Provide courteous, professional support when on customer property
Communicate clearly with customers when asked by the lead technician
Uphold company standards for appearance, behavior, and service quality
Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance
Inspect, clean, and organize tools and materials
Help ensure service vehicles are stocked and maintained
Report equipment issues to senior technicians or supervisors
Work Environment
Outdoor and indoor environments, sometimes in confined spaces
Exposure to propane odors, equipment noise, and typical service hazards
Work may include after‑hours or weekend emergency service rotations
Experience Required
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to lift 50–75 lbs. and work outdoors in varying weather
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn propane systems
Preferred
Previous experience in HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, or construction fields
CETP certification (or willingness to obtain)
Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and safety practices
Skills & Competencies
Strong work ethic and reliability
Mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Good communication and customer service ability
Commitment to safety and compliance
