Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Calciner is to maintain control and proper operation of the Mill in order to provide the plant with first-quality stucco.
Safety and quality should always be part of the daily operation, to provide a safe workplace and to produce the highest quality product possible.
General Requirements
Education requirement: High School Diploma or GED
Must be able to read cut lists and accurately complete special tags.
Must be able to use a touch screen computer and input information.
Must be able to lift/move up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 51 lbs. occasionally.
Must be able to perform basic math and metrics.
Forklift experience is a plus.
Front loader and/or heavy equipment experience is a plus.
Primary Duties Safety
This operations position is a safety-sensitive position due to routine close proximity to moving and automatic equipment as well as mobile equipment.
Operate in a safe manner, following all plant and departmental safety rules and procedures.
Participate is weekly crew safety meetings.
Understanding of how and where to properly lock-out all job related equipment.
Understanding of safe operation for forklifts.
Understanding of mobile equipment safety inspection.
Wear appropriate PPE for the job conditions.
Maintain housekeeping in the designated area.
Understanding of JSA’s for the area.
Quality
Adhere to all quality-related procedures.
Test stucco and land plaster using a CompuTrac moisture analyzer.
Input information onto mill control reports accurately and completely.
Understand all stucco and land plaster specifications and inform supervisor when necessary.
Monitor the Cage Mill and Impact Mills operations to ensure first-quality stucco.
Communicate any situations that could affect stucco quality or mill operations.
Operations
Follow all mill area operating procedures.
Monitor mill temperatures to ensure uniformity.
Monitor all bin levels in the mill to ensure adequate supply.
Follow sampling procedures.
Notify the Wet End Supervisor and/or Shift Foreman of any alarms or problems in the mill area.
Record set points, bin levels, and actual feed rates from the HMI to the proper control reports completely and accurately.
Follow proper mill start-up and shutdown procedures.
Assist other wet-end personnel as needed.
Additional Duties
Must be flexible with job duties; may be required to fill in on other jobs when the business or organization is short-handed.

Work Environment and Conditions
Typically well-lighted.
The mill is not heated or air-conditioned.
Extreme hot temperatures possible on upper floors.
Moderate to excessive noise levels require hearing protection.
Air quality is typically good.
Attention level requirements are high, such as watching the process, listening for alarms, and recognizing changing data and conditions.
