VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: Boiler Operator
Formosa Textile (Pty) Ltd
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Boiler Operator at Formosa Textile (Pty) Ltd.
Experience & Qualifications
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Valid certificate in boiler operations and maintenance.
Minimum of 2 years’ relevant and proven experience as a Boiler Operator in the manufacturing sector.
Thorough understanding of safe boiler operations, equipment, control systems, and maintenance.
Good knowledge of mechanical processes.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Must have initiative and strong problem-solving ability.
Knowledge of applicable legal regulations and safety procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure safe, reliable, smooth, and efficient operation of the boiler/boiler systems, in full compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Perform daily boiler operation checks and inspections during each shift, repeating required checks frequently to ensure safe boiler operations. These include, but are not limited to:
Temperature and pressure readings
Recording water levels
Observing signs of leakage
Boiler water quality tests
Monitoring gauges and taking corrective action as required
Implement routine safety inspections and maintenance of boiler systems, including boiler equipment, associated components, control systems, auxiliary equipment, and safety devices.
Maintain a log and detailed records of operational data, inspections, maintenance, adjustments, breakdowns, hazards, troubleshooting, boiler defects, repairs, replacement of parts, routine cleaning, and all other required documentation.
Identify and repair/replace defective parts in consultation with the supervisor, adhering strictly to safety standards.
Plan preventive maintenance schedules to be implemented on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Keep boiler equipment in optimum and safe working condition at all times.
Maintain excellent housekeeping within the boiler operating area.
Fully comply with all applicable laws, regulations, health and safety standards, and safety procedures as prescribed under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2024 (Schedule 1).
