Manual Sewing Machine Operator in Cookeville, TN
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation: Setup and operate various sewing machines (e.g., single-needle, double-needle, overlock, serging) to sew according to specific work orders or patterns. Material Preparation: Select appropriate thread, needles, and attachments. Draw markings or pin appliques on fabric and cut materials to required sizes using scissors or electric knives. Assembly & Finishing: Join parts, attach accessories (such as Velcro and Zippers), and perform finishing tasks like trimming excess thread or material. Quality Control: Inspect finished products for defects like uneven seams, skipped stitches, or material flaws, and perform repairs as needed. Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning and oiling machines, replacing worn needles, and troubleshooting minor mechanical issues. Documentation: Record operational data, including quantities of materials processed and number of pieces completed per shift. Requirements & Skills
Manual Dexterity: Ability to quickly move hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects with precision. Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with sewing machine mechanics and various sewing techniques like lock stitching or blind hemming. Visual Acuity: Strong near vision to see fine details up close and the ability to differentiate between various fabric colors and types. Physical Stamina: Ability to sit or stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions in a fast-paced environment. Attention to Detail: Precision in following detailed work orders and spotting minor defects or inconsistencies. Education & Training
No Formal Education Required. Just On the Job Training. Experience
Prior experience in an industrial sewing environment is preferred.
