Precision Castparts
Mission
Repair castings to meet customer specifications by replacing metal in defective areas using various welding techniques.
Principal Accountabilities
Welding:
Weld castings to customer and PCC specifications.
Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain welding equipment in good working order.
Safety:
Demonstrate safe work practices.
Typical Activities - Welding
Review inspection/rework analyst paperwork and tech cards.
Identify and inspect prepared areas needing repair.
Weld areas on castings using GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and PAW techniques.
Comply with Process Control Procedures and external quality control standards, including aerospace standards.
Place castings on benches, fixtures, or bubble cabinets; use mirrors to complete welds in difficult areas; wear necessary safety equipment.
Inspect front and back of completed welds to assure proper technique and adequate metal deposit.
Typical Activities - Equipment Maintenance
Repair torch heads, replace power cables, and perform minor maintenance on welding tools.
Typical Activities - Safety
Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
Safely operate all equipment and tools.
Identify and report safety problems.
Complete logs and records.
Perform other tasks as directed.
Training
Training is provided on the job.
Welding Tech Series courses as directed.
Alloy Certification and/or Titanium Certification (TBO) as directed.
GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and PAW Welding Certification as directed.
Entry Qualifications
Advanced welding skills demonstrated by completion of the PCC approved Welding Tech Series and Welding Certification in two applicable alloys or titanium at time of hire.
Two years of applicable welding experience.
Or an equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience, and completion of Certification to PCC Weld Test Standards.
Other Qualifications
20/30 correctable vision in both eyes, and satisfactory passage of depth perception and color vision tests.
Good eye/hand coordination.
Ability to read and follow specifications on tech cards.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing 30–50 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds.
Ability to work in difficult working conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, awkward physical positions, and other elements for extended periods of time.
Major Plant Differences
SSBO – uses GTAW welding only.
LSBO – customer specifications require use of WEBTAQ welding technique for GTAW welding.
TBO – uses GTAW welding only and requires Titanium Certification only.
