Summary This position is a Maintenance Technician in an egg production and processing facility. The purpose of this position is to complete minor to major equipment repairs during non-production and production times of the day.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, operate and test machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
Dismantle machines, equipment or devices to access and remove defective parts for repairs.
Maintain food processing equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as inspecting motors, bearings, belts, fluid levels and replacing filters.
Conduct general maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical wiring, and installation of new equipment and parts.
Document all maintenance performed, including preventive maintenance.
Identify required parts and notify supervisor.
Ensure facility supervisors are notified when maintenance or repairs are to be undertaken in any food handling area.
Remove all tools and debris after maintenance and notify appropriate personnel of completion so proper hygiene and sanitation can be performed before operations resume.
Education and Experience
Minimum of high school diploma.
Maintenance certification or equivalent experience.
Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
Previous maintenance experience required; experience in Food Manufacturing or Processing highly desirable.
Knowledge of safety programs and processes such as Confined Space, LOTO, HazCom, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs and maintenance.
Strong ability to work alone or with little supervision.
Ability to determine causes of operating errors and resolve them.
Ability to identify complex problems, review related information, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions.
Strong knowledge in pneumatics and power transmission required.
Physical Demands Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, water, and chemicals. Temperature is regulated for operations standards; cooler temperatures occur in specific areas. Sound level is usually moderate. Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions. Employees are required to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) due to working in a food manufacturing environment (hairnets, clean clothes, etc.).
