Job Description Position: Machine Operator I
Reports to: Branch Manager
Hourly Pay: $23.00 - $25.19 with a 24‑month wage progression plus shift differential.
Responsibilities
Ensure personal safety and the safety of team members.
Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Follow all safety programs and report deviations.
Operate manual machine tools such as lathes and threaders, measuring, threading, and adjusting flanges on ductile or steel pipe.
Operate crane to move pipe in and out of machining centers.
Identify fabrication requirements for each piece of pipe.
Place, center and tighten pipe in machine; machine tapered threads; verify measurements such as thread depth and correct taper.
Test flange fit, apply glue, and tighten flange onto pipe.
For threaders, remove pipe from machine and move to next operation; for lathes, flush fit flange onto pipe.
Work with pipe and flanges primarily from 3″ to 6″ in diameter and lengths from 4 inches to 18 feet long.
Meet prescribed production output objectives for the work center.
Use math, tape measure, and micrometer accurately.
Understand machinery processes and maintain quality.
Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
Collaborate across different machines as needed.
Maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and helpful attitude.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
Stand, walk, and use hands to handle tools and controls.
Communicate verbally and in writing in English.
Reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
Lift and move up to 10 lb routinely, up to 25 lb frequently, up to 50 lb occasionally.
Wear PPE (steel‑toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection).
Operate in dust and fumes; work overtime/extended hours as needed.
Work outside in all weather and tolerate loud noises.
Operate a forklift and obtain certification.
Have knowledge of industrial tools and maintenance.
Meet specific visual requirements (close, peripheral, depth perception).
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (desired).
Previous experience with machinery (desired).
Good math skills; ability to read tape measure and micrometer.
Consistent attendance; punctuality.
Team player willing to help across machines.
Positive, enthusiastic, helpful demeanor.
Full‑time attendance essential.
