Location : Corpus Christi, TX (Austin Industrial – boiler plant)

Responsibilities

Construct, assemble, maintain, and repair stationary steam boilers and boiler‑house auxiliaries.

Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, or vats for defects such as leaks or weak spots.

Bolt or arc weld pressure‑vessel structures and parts together using hand and power tools, and welding equipment.

Inspect assembled vessels and components (tubes, fittings, valves, controls, or auxiliary mechanisms) for defects.

Repair or replace defective parts (safety valves, regulators, etc.) using torches, jacks, caulking hammers, drilling equipment, and metal‑working machines.

Attach rigging and signaling for crane or hoist operators to lift heavy frame and plate sections.

Complete bell, bead, or weld of pressure‑vessel tube ends to ensure leak‑proof joints.

Layout plate, sheet steel, or other heavy metal parts; mark bending and cutting lines with protractors, compasses, and drawing instruments.

Install manholes, handholes, taps, tubes, valves, gauges, or feedwater connections in water‑tube boiler drums.

Study blueprints to determine locations, relationships, and dimensions of parts.

Straighten or reshape bent pressure‑vessel plates or structure parts using hammers, jacks, or torches.

Shape seams, joints, or irregular edges of pressure‑vessel sections to attain specified fit using cutting torches, hammers, files, or metal‑working machines.

Position, align, and secure structural parts or related assemblies to boiler frames, tanks, or vats following blueprints.

Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates on boiler foundations using straightedges, squares, transits, or measuring instruments.

Shape or fabricate parts (stacks, uptakes, chutes) to adapt pressure vessels, heat exchangers, or piping to premises.

Clean pressure‑vessel equipment using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents.

Install refractory bricks or other heat‑resistant materials in fireboxes of pressure vessels.

Assemble large vessels in an on‑site fabrication shop prior to installation to ensure proper fit.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Certification/License : NCCER Boilermaker certification and a valid driver’s license.

Experience : 3–5 years of journeyman‑level boilermaking experience.

Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Physical Demands The job requires regular sitting, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 25 lb and may frequently lift or move up to 50 lb. Good vision (close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception) and the ability to adjust focus are required.
