Automotive Research Technician

Job Purpose The Automotive Research Technician will assist with keeping BG Products, Inc. the leader in the automotive preventive maintenance industry by performing automotive research on BG Products and services to further advance our products and services.
Duties & Responsibilities
Adheres to company policies and presents a professional, positive attitude at all times.
Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups on company vehicles. Maintain records and coordinate service schedules.
Tear down, repair, and rebuild assemblies such as engines, power steering systems, cooling systems, and transmissions.
Operate engine emission testing equipment.
Perform functions of vehicle teardown and inspection of working components for OEM design issues and provide a collective response on the data.
Use a borescope for collective data on vehicle components such as engine, transmission and recording results.
Operate vehicle Dyno and record appropriate testing results.
Maintain all service equipment by repairing or replacing malfunctioning or worn mechanical components.
Maintain a professional appearance and be well groomed as well as handling yourself in a professional manner when interacting with BG Customers, staff, and dealerships.
Evaluate drive vehicles and test components and systems using equipment such as compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
Use electronic testing equipment in conjunction with technical operating, service, or repair manuals to troubleshoot fuel, ignition, and emission control systems in a variety of vehicle types.
Assist Technical Service staff with answers to technical questions or problems relating to vehicle specific issues.
Assist with research and development of new parts and tools, including providing solutions to OEM design issues.
Assist in BGU training on and off site.
Must be able to keep up to date with technology and application methods/best practices.
Other duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associates degree (A.A./A.S.) or advanced technical training is required.
ASE certifications required. ASE Master Technician preferred.
A minimum of five (5+) years of experience in the automotive technician field required. Dealership service experience is required.
Experience with BG Products Automotive Service Equipment and application methods required.
Must meet insurance requirements in the BG Fleet Safety Program Policy.
Must have a valid driver's license.
