Job Title: Machine Operator – Night Shift Pay: $18.50/hr plus $1.00/hr shift differential (6:00 pm–2:00 am, Monday – Friday).
Summary This position sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, and grinders to machine plastic or metal work pieces. The operator must be able to perform the following tasks.
Responsibilities
Work to exacting tolerances, determine speeds and feeds, and sharpen own tools.
Read blueprints or job orders for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determine sequence of operations.
Select, position, and secure tool in a tool holder.
Position and secure the workpiece in a holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
Set up fixture or feeding device, start the machine, and turn the hand wheel to feed the tool to the workpiece or vice versa, engaging feed.
Observe operation of the machine and verify conformance of the machined workpiece to specifications.
Operate a bench grinder to sharpen tools.
Set up and operate machines and equipment other than machine tools.
May operate molding machine to form sand molds used in production of metal castings.
Minimum Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be able to measure parts using micrometers, calipers, or other measuring tools.
Must be able to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
The ideal candidate possesses the following experience, skills, and abilities
Clear communication, both oral and written.
Organization skills; keep area clean to 5S standards.
Prior shop or mechanical experience desired.
Meets productivity standards by completing work in a timely manner.
