Role Overview As a General Laborer you’ll be an essential part of the team that keeps our fabrication shop running smoothly. This entry‑level position is perfect for someone eager to learn the ropes of the steel industry, develop hands‑on skills, and grow within a company that promotes from within. If you’re reliable, detail‑oriented, and want a long‑term career path that could lead into fabrication, welding, or fieldwork, this is your starting point.
Key Responsibilities
Prep, clean, and scrape metal for fabrication, welding, or shipping.
Operate power tools such as saws, drills, and grinders.
Read and interpret tape measurements accurately to 1/16” for cutting and drilling.
Assist with material movement—lifting, loading, stacking, and organizing steel and scrap.
Maintain a clean and safe work area, keeping tools and equipment in proper condition.
Support the fabrication team with various shop duties as needed.
Serve as backup for painting and finishing work when required.
Qualifications
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen (including marijuana).
Comfortable working outdoors and in high temperatures.
Able to stand for long periods and lift over 50 lbs.
Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
Ability to read a tape measure (crucial for this position).
Basic computer literacy and ability to read part prints—plus.
Painting or finishing experience preferred but not required.
Skills & Abilities
Strong attention to detail and quality of work.
Eager to learn new skills and grow with the company.
Positive, can‑do attitude with good communication habits.
Dependable team player who also works well independently.
Safety‑conscious and mindful of surroundings.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 5 am – 3 pm with a 1‑hour unpaid lunch.
Occasional half days on Friday (depending on need).
Compensation & Benefits
$18 per hour.
