A legal writing sample is required with application.
Summary function: Monitors Florida Attorneys with probationary or post disciplinary conditions and conducts legal research.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitors respondent compliance with disciplinary conditions and conditional admits with probationary conditions. Exchanges information with other Florida Bar Departments.
Draft correspondence relating to disciplinary conditions and probation for Lawyer Regulation Director and Staff Counsel.
Draft pleadings for Lawyer Regulation Director's and Staff Counsel's signature.
Acts as Liaison with FLA, Inc. Monitors compliance with check-ins and monthly monitoring reports, FLA monitors, payments to FLA, FLA processes.
Act as informational liaison with The Florida Board of Bar Examiners.
Performs legal research and miscellaneous special functions as assigned by Division Director and/or Staff Counsel; testifies at referee proceedings.
Other related duties as assigned.
Required minimum education: Completion of an accredited paralegal/legal assistant course of study. Juris Doctorate will substitute for this education.
Required minimum professional work experience: Four (4) years of paralegal/legal assistant experience or certified as a Florida Registered Paralegal or Certified Legal Assistant or Juris Doctorate.
Knowledge of:
The Rules Regulating The Florida Bar
Legal terminology and the judicial process
Legal writing
Legal research techniques
Skilled in:
Excellent legal and analytical communication, both oral and written
MS Word, Excel, Outlook
Adobe Acrobat
Database input
Ability to:
Think logically and effectively problem solve
Interpret TFB policies and procedures
Organize and prioritize work
Demonstrate initiative in group projects and individual settings
Tactfully manage difficult situations
Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing
Operate well under pressure and in a team atmosphere
Consistently provide an excellent service-oriented attitude
Create ADA compliant forms and documents using Adobe
To sit for long periods of time, hear and converse over the telephone, and key/work frequently on a computer
Lift 5 to 10 lbs.
