Position Summary The Paralegal, Private Wealth works with the Private Wealth lawyers in administering client estates, estate planning and trust accounting.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Administer Estates, including identifying, valuing, collecting and distributing Decedent’s assets; preparation of estate tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns; maintaining accountings for estates and revocable trusts and preparing final accountings with receipts and releases; communicating with clients directly as well as with their banking representatives, investment advisors and accountants

Prepare documents for probate and other Surrogate’s Court filings

Prepare estate and gift tax projections and calculate available generation‑skipping transfer tax exemption and CLAT, GRAT and QPRT illustrations

Prepare spreadsheets reflecting alternative estate planning options

Compile voluminous exhibits for tax filings and legal proceedings

Prepare clients’ billing statements on a monthly basis

Prepare incapacity documents

Maintain Trust & Estates department client documents database and locked filing cabinets containing original documents, including Wills of clients

Meet with clients and assist with execution of documents

Qualifications/Position Requirements

Substantial experience administering trusts and estates for ultra‑high net worth individuals

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff

Knowledge of Word and Excel computer programs

Experience managing and mentoring staff

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Excellent organizational and research skillsAbility to manage multiple projects

Strong operational, leadership, organizational, technical, and interpersonal skills

Strong work ethic and flexibility to meet the demands of the position

Education And/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree

Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience

Compensation The expected base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 - $120,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, anticipated assignment, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Davis Polk offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
