Weber & Olcese, P.L.C. is looking for a qualified Legal Assistant to join our growing and dynamic team. This Legal Assistant position will support the firm's insurance defense practice group. Candidates should have circuit court, district court, and federal court efiling experience. A minimum of (2) years of professional experience working as a legal assistant in insurance defense litigation.
About The Role As a Legal Assistant, you will support a team of attorneys, paralegals, and staff in managing complex insurance defense matters. You will be responsible for preparing court filings, managing case calendars, assisting with trial preparation, and serving as an essential link between attorneys, clients, courts, and carriers. This role requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and prior experience in litigation support.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare standard correspondences, such as cover letters, to accompany motions, pleadings, or discovery prepared by counsel.
Review incoming mail and screen for urgent matters, notices of depositions, appearances, or other pertinent dates and deadlines and prepare appropriate correspondences to court and/or client.
Maintain attorney calendar and keep attorney apprised of upcoming events/tasks to ensure completion.
Schedule and prepare notices for all depositions with appropriate letters, pleadings, and witness fee checks.
Handle all electronic filings and other court filings.
Observe confidentiality of attorney-client relationship.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience as a legal assistant in insurance defense litigation.
Hands‑on experience with circuit court, district court, and federal court e‑filing.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and legal case management systems (Clio).
Preferred Qualifications
Associate or bachelor's degree, or Paralegal Certificate.
Experience supporting multiple attorneys in a litigation practice.
Other Work Requirements
Successfully pass pre‑employment testing, including criminal background check, credit check and drug testing.
