As a Fabrication/Welding Technician at Coperion (Formerly Shick Esteve) in Kansas City, MO, you will be responsible for constructing stainless steel parts and support structures for ingredient automation systems. Your work will involve precise welding, fitting, grinding, and polishing to produce high-quality components that meet strict safety and quality standards. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative ingredient processing solutions while working in a dynamic, safety-focused environment.

Shift: 5am - 3:30pm Monday through Thursday (10hr Shift).

What You’ll Do

Use MIG and TIG welding techniques to construct stainless steel parts and support structures, including full hoppers and related components.

Finalize fit-up and welding of parts after laser cutting and braking processes, ensuring proper alignment and quality.

Perform grinding, polishing, and finishing to achieve smooth, high-quality surfaces.

Operate forklifts to move pallets of parts and finished hoppers safely and efficiently.

Recognize and maintain a strong safety culture, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.

Apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills throughout the build process to address challenges and ensure quality outcomes.

Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and productivity.

Support other fabrication and assembly duties as needed to meet production schedules.

You will be part of Coperion’s manufacturing team in Kansas City, working alongside skilled welders, fabricators, and assembly personnel. Your contributions will help produce reliable, high-quality ingredient automation systems that support our global customer base.

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; formal trades training or at least two years of related experience preferred.

Demonstrated proficiency in TIG and MIG welding.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, safety instructions, and technical manuals.

Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts to work tasks.

Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and solve problems involving multiple variables.

Must be able to read weld symbols accurately.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

Ability to climb stairs and ladders safely.

Ability to stand for up to 4 hours without formal breaks.

Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.

Must pass background check, drug test, and provide proof of legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Ability to work in a loud environment with fumes or airborne particles.

Preferred Qualifications

Welding certification (certified welder) is a plus.

Experience in grinding and fabrication.

Experience operating overhead cranes (training available).

Experience driving forklifts (training available).
