General Description Compiles data and operates a computer in performance of routine clerical duties to maintain business records and reports by performing the duties and responsibilities listed below.

This class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to project administrator.

Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

Uses a computer to compile information and prepare reports, business correspondence, memos, minutes, and other materials.

Answers incoming calls, assists caller and routes caller to appropriate personnel; makes outgoing calls to commission members for confirmation of when meetings are held.

Greets and assists children, parents, staff members and visitors.

File correspondence and receipts and maintains filing system.

Collects and records all moneys that come into the center accurately.

Transcribes minutes of commission members and makes arrangements for the meeting.

Processes time sheets, leave slips, and payroll summary for employees.

Creates news bulletin boards monthly.

Collects, sorts, and distributes mail.

Orders and issues supplies and equipment to staff members and others; pays corresponding invoices.

Photocopies all correspondence.

Maintains DSS/DHEC childcare records.

Prepare DSS Corrective Action Plans.

Performs other duties and related work as instructed and assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Requires an Associate’s degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college in business management, accounting, public or business administration, or related field of study.

Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible and varied administrative support experience including supervisory responsibilities, preferably in the public sector; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Demands Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
