Job Description The
Interpretive Hiking Guide
position offers guests who visit Denali an opportunity to experience the surroundings of the area in a more intimate manner than many of the larger group activities offered. The guide will act as a personal interpreter on the Denali area’s cultural, historical and natural resources while providing support to guests eager to experience the outdoor environment.
Position details: This exciting seasonal role is available from
May 24 – September 7, 2026 . We offer competitive wages, comfortable on‑site housing, an inclusive meal plan for $16 a day, a fully equipped gym, and daily bus services along the park road. The Denali Park Village Hotel operates from May to September.
Job Responsibilities
Lead guests of all ages on an organized and informative excursion.
Educate yourself on local ecology, geology, history, and culture to interpret these aspects to guests.
Receive assignment the day before the scheduled hike.
Report for work shift ready to hike with essential gear outlined in the Safety and Operations manual.
Ensure all gear is in good condition and depart for pick‑up/meeting assignments.
Double‑check that the first aid kit and emergency cell phone are on your person.
Greet each guest, brief them on plans, present the Acknowledgement of Risk form, and collect necessary vouchers or tickets.
Give a detailed safety briefing and assess each guest’s ability to participate.
Conduct the activity, maintaining control and leadership while providing valuable interpretive knowledge.
Perform duties of Support Staff when hikes or other interpretive activities are not scheduled.
Be capable of safely operating a 15‑passenger van on local roads and highways; complete required training and paperwork.
Know and comply with all company safety, security, emergency, and energy policies.
Report to work on time and in complete uniform.
Qualifications
Training in First Aid protocols such as Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness Advanced First Aid, Wilderness EMT, or EMT/Paramedic (preferred).
Multilingual skills a plus.
Extensive experience guiding in the same or related environment.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for varied amounts of time.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Availability to work flexible hours.
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and/or extended walking and standing. Uniforms and/or PPE may also be required.
