Day Porter

Chicagoland Management seeks a Day Porter (Janitor) for an office building we manage in Chicago's Loop. This position helps maintain a clean, safe, and hospitable environment for both our tenants and guests. They preserve the overall cleanliness of the building and are responsible for reporting work orders they observe throughout the building. The Day Porter will clean, sanitize, and maintain both public and back of house spaces. The ideal person for this position has experience, is self‑motivated, enjoys working individually or on occasion as a team, is well‑spoken, energetic, and personable.

Responsibilities

Clean trash and debris from interior hallways, public space and office space when requested

Remove trash from inside building and take to dumpster

Vacuum, sweep or mop all common area carpet and tile floors

Cleans all glass in the vestibules of all buildings

Cleans all common area restrooms

Sweeps all stairwells

Cleans trash rooms and trash cans

Cleans graffiti off building exterior

Additional Items:

Assists in the cleaning of vacant units

Maintains supplies and reports when more supplies need to be ordered

Assists in other items as needed, i.e. minor maintenance items and being available for emergency situations

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred

Detail‑oriented, confidential, and professional

Ability to read and speak English

Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at times

Must be able to stand for long periods of time and reach, bend, lift and pull
