ACZ Laboratories, Inc. is an environmental testing laboratory located in the beautiful mountain town of Steamboat Springs, CO. Founded in 1980, ACZ Laboratories is an accredited environmental testing laboratory with inorganic, organic, and radiochemical capabilities. We specialize in the analysis of trace‑level contaminants in water, soil, sediment, sludge, waste, biota, and tissue.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail‑oriented Sample Receiving Technician to join our team in our shipping and receiving department. The Sample Receiving Technician reports directly to and works with the Login Supervisor.
As a Sample Receiving Technician, you will possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, attention to detail and a desire to learn new things. The ideal candidate will experience in a laboratory or environmental testing setting but is not required.
Job Responsibilities Ensure all incoming samples are properly received, logged, and documented according to laboratory procedures, chain‑of‑custody (COC) requirements, and regulatory standards.
Inspect all incoming samples for correct labeling, identification and container integrity
Measure and record sample temperatures upon receipt, confirming appropriate preservatives, volumes and hold times
Enter all sample information into LIMS accurately, generate sample labels and ensure they match LIMS entries
Maintain proper sample storage procedures and inventory controls.
Document and continuously control custody of samples from receipt through lab distribution
Ensure samples are stored in designated storage areas with proper temperature controls
Assemble sample kits for analytical testing
Monitor inventory levels and communicate inventory needs with the team
Support laboratory policies and safety compliance.
Learn, embrace, and adhere to ACZ's mission, core values, and quality system
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and laboratory safety protocols through training and SOP reviews
Adhere to all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and report any discrepancies or issues
Maintain sample storage, department cleanliness and organization
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental science, or a related field preferred but not required
Previous experience in an environmental lab or analytical chemistry role is highly desirable
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to take initiative and complete tasks with minimal supervision
Can work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Driven self‑starter with strong work ethic
Ability to safely handle chemicals
Proficient in data analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong work ethic
Ability to work on your feet, lift items up to 50 pounds and work Saturdays
