Job Purpose Electricians are responsible for the facility, equipment and machinery electrical work that includes inspecting, testing, repairing, installing, and modifying electrical components and systems.

Key Job Elements

Install, maintain, and enhance electrical systems and components, including fuses, lights, and wiring.

Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with electrical systems and components.

Perform all work in a manner that meets and follows electrical codes, blueprints, and standards.

Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning.

Prepare, bend conduit and pull wires.

Complete required documentation of repairs and service information.

Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies and parts.

Calibrate equipment to provided specifications.

Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components.

Troubleshoot problems and make timely repairs.

Perform maintenance on IT Networks.

Operate a variety of equipment including fork trucks, cranes, and other powered equipment.

Advanced Duties and Responsibilities

Troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment.

Troubleshoot robotic systems and equipment.

Read and work with Programmable Logic Controllers.

Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.

Qualifications, Experience, Education

Skill Level I – 0-2 years of experience.

Skill Level II – 2-5 years of experience or Apprenticeship or Technical/Vocational Degree.

Skill Level III – 5+ years of experience or State Electrical License.

Comfortable reading and understanding electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.

Working knowledge of electrical theory, and the associated principles, materials, and equipment.

Ability to calculate basic mathematical problems.

Preferred Skills

Completion of an electrician apprenticeship program or an electrician program at a technical or trade school.

Journeyman’s or state license.

Essential and Physical Activities Functions

Strength – Employee will lift, push, pull and carry up to 50lbs.

Motion – Employee will stand, kneel, squat and climb for the majority of the day. Employee must be comfortable working from ladders, scaffold and roofs. Employee may be required to dig trenches and work from tight restricted spots.

Vision/Hearing Requirements – Must be capable of reading schematics and blueprints. Employee will be exposed to loud noises and machinery.

Work Environment – Employee will spend a majority of his/her time indoors but can spend significant time outdoors. Most facilities are not environmentally controlled and will subject the employees to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold. If outdoors, could include snow and rain. Employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals and/or hazardous material. The work environment can be oily and dirty.

Emotional Demands – Employee expected to make quick decisions and troubleshoot on equipment and facilities to facilitate operations, especially during power outages and failures.

Safety – This is a safety sensitive position. The position requires work around live circuits, rail tracks, machinery and moving equipment. This position requires the use of all required personal protective equipment such as hearing, head, eye, and foot protection.
