We are currently seeking an experienced mechanic to perform inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair on our fleet of on-road and off-road vehicles and equipment in and around the state of Indiana.
Job Summary:
This is a field-based, on-site position, and requires daily travel to job sites.
The experienced Field Mechanic will perform repairs and maintenance of fleet vehicles outdoors in the field and at construction sites. Our fleet includes pick-ups, bucket trucks, trailers, digger derricks, dozers, trenchers, excavators, backhoes, loaders, generators, and other related utility construction equipment.
Requires 100% travel (travel expenses are reimbursed)
Company service truck is provided
Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance, service, and repair of fleet vehicles
Document PM maintenance reports & equipment repair logs
Utilize manufacturer and aftermarket parts and service software
Install and maintain telematics equipment such as Zonar
Repair construction type fleet equipment and vehicles (including aerial device repairs).
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Willingness to travel and work in all kinds of weather
Diagnose and repair diesel and gas engines
Locate drivetrain concerns and repair as necessary
Inspect, service, and replace chassis components
Pinpoint hydraulic system malfunctions and repair as necessary
Service and repair air, electric, and hydraulic brake systems
Perform electrical and electronic system diagnosis and repair
Weld and fabricate as needed
Perform minor body panel repair
Verify vehicle/equipment repairs
Willingness to work overtime when required, sometimes with short notice
Maintaining a clean driving record
Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor
Follow all company policies and procedures
Qualifications Qualifications:
Must have at least three years’ experience working as a mechanic or service technician
Good analytical skills
Good verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated
Ford, Peterbilt, John Deere, Altec, Terex, Versalift, International, CAT and Vermeer experience preferred
Class" A" CDL required, fifth wheel endorsement a plus
DOT inspection experience
Ability to walk long distances over uneven and wet surfaces
Requires experience repairing diesel engines and hydraulic systems
Requires experience repairing air brakes; certification is preferred but not required
Experienced in welding and small fabrication
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Safely operate hand and power tools/equipment
Verifiable, working knowledge of medium/heavy truck and utility equipment service
