Position Summary Operate filter press; operate APV; operate flow meters; operate a forklift; perform duties required of a Processing Employee; provide back up to Glace Tank Room Operators; keep the work area clean and be able to perform moderate to heavy labor. If any problems develop, notify foreman or supervisor.
Essential Functions
Operate, disassemble and clean filter press
Measure and add chemicals
Wear required safety equipment
Operate APV – including start‑up, shut‑down, and cleaning
Perform checks as needed to monitor syrup brix/PH
Operate flow meters
Conduct checks, make adjustments, fill out appropriate paperwork
Perform duties required of a Processing Employee
Provide back‑up to Glace Tank Room Operators
Operate pumps
Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems and assist in identifying and correcting these problems
Plant clean‑up
Other tasks as assigned
Competencies and Certifications Required
Minimum 12th Grade equivalent testing in Reading/Math
Internal GMP/HACCP/SQF Training
Excellent communication skills
Good computer skills
Complete work instruction/qualification sheet in allotted time frame
Trained and knowledgeable in the use of PPE (personal protective equipment)
Must pass respiratory fitness test
OSHA Forklift license
Physical Demands of Job
Frequent standing and walking
Occasional climbing, bending, stooping, and twisting
Occasional lifting and/or pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds
Work Environment
Wet or humid conditions
Extreme temperatures
Exposure to brine (sulfur dioxide)
Exposure to bleach (calcium chloride)
Exposure to cleaning chemicals
