West Point Mill is seeking an hourly Mechanical Maintenance Technician with the ability to provide primary machinist skills with secondary skills in welding and millwrighting for the West Point Mill.

What you need to succeed: Ideal candidates will have substantial experience in a job shop, repair facility, or in maintenance machine work. Applicants are expected to possess knowledge and hands‑on experience with various measurement tools including micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators. Proficiency in working with all types of metals.

Proven experience in job shop environments, repair facilities, or maintenance machine work. Expertise in using measurement tools such as micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators. Experience in handling different types of metals. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings. High attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship.

For a Class 1 Helper:

Five years of relevant industrial experience at a journeyman machinist level, or

Two‑year technical degree in machining technology, or

Four years’ relevant technical military experience as machinist

Non‑CNC machining preferred

Exceptional communication skills

For a Class A Journeyman:

Ten years of relevant industrial experience at a journeyman machinist level, or

Five years of relevant industrial or military experience and a two‑year technical degree

Exceptional communication

Non‑CNC machining preferred

Participate in all department safety programs

Effective troubleshooting abilities

Ability to read and understand equipment manuals & drawings

Ability to properly document repairs and inspections

Computer skills adequate to look up bill of materials & store parts, enter work results, and complete work orders.

Good working knowledge of rigging equipment and techniques

Ability to measure, lay out, and fabricate repair parts

This facility is operated as a multi‑craft team concept mill and all individuals are required to work to their potential. This job description does not in any way limit the responsibilities of the Mechanical Maintenance Technician.
