Job Summary
NESCO Resource has partnered with a manufacturing company in Farmington, NY to hire a
Welder
for a temp-to-hire opportunity within its Sheet Metal department. This position is responsible for setting up and operating welding and brazing equipment to fabricate metal components in accordance with company specifications and safety standards. The ideal candidate has hands‑on welding experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Shift & Pay
Shift:
Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Pay Rate:
$25.00 +/Hour, Base Exp.
Key Responsibilities
Set up welding machines by connecting cables and adjusting amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse.
Operate welding power supplies to produce electric current for required welding processes.
Guide electrodes or welding guns along weld lines while maintaining proper arc length and travel speed.
Perform welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
Inspect completed welds to ensure bead size and weld quality meet specifications.
Clean and prepare weld joints and workpieces using wire brushes, grinders, or chemical solutions.
Cut metal plates or structural shapes as required.
Maintain tools, gauges, and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
Complete production paperwork and inspection documentation accurately.
Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) per training guidelines.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
1–2 years of welding or related manufacturing experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Basic math skills including measurements, percentages, and geometry.
Ability to apply common-sense reasoning to carry out written or verbal instructions.
Experience operating welding equipment required; forklift and scissor lift experience preferred.
Ability to work scheduled hours, including overtime and weekends as business needs require.
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and company policies.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Stand, walk, climb, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods.
Work in loud environments and around fumes, airborne particles, and moving machinery.
Use required PPE consistently throughout the shift.
