What to Expect
Join Tesla in creating robust, beautiful, data-centric automated machines. As a Manufacturing Test & Equipment Engineering Technician, you will work alongside engineers to develop testing equipment for batteries and power electronics components in our vehicles, and energy products. This team specifically develops custom, high-power, automated testing equipment for our production lines around the world.
What You’ll Do
Perform electro‑mechanical tasks (Electrical/control panel wiring, frame/fixture assemble, bench test setup)
Work from complex and detailed manufacturing documentation, drawings, and/or verbal and written instructions and specialized fixtures/test equipment
Aide in troubleshooting mechanical & electrical
Participate in initial equipment conceptual development
Stay organized, interacting with cross‑functional teams and working on multiple projects simultaneously
Inventory management and package pickup
Support deployment of testing equipment at Tesla facilities and contract manufacturers
What You’ll Bring
4+ years hands‑on experience building/wiring up various hardware
Exposure to a variety of mechanical systems, production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment
Ability to follow mechanical drawing and electrical schematic
Ability to lift 20-40 lbs. on a daily basis and to maintain a safe working environment
Experience with using test equipment (DMM, Oscilloscope, Variable DC power supplies, etc.)
Experience with pneumatic and fluid systems
Must be comfortable around High Voltage
Must be able to solder and crimp both large and small components and use basic shop tools (drill press, band saw, etc.)
Experience with cable management and wire routing is a plus and knowledge of UL 508A and NFPA 79 standards are a plus
Travel (Domestic and International)
