Responsibilities
Inspects and tests HVAC and boiler systems to verify compliance and locate malfunctions.
Determines customer concerns and discusses system malfunctions to isolate problems.
Follows standards, policies, and safety procedures and maintains a clean work area.
Records and reports faults, deficiencies, and time/materials expended on work orders.
Tests pipe, tubing, and connections for leaks; adjusts controls to manufacturer settings.
Performs maintenance procedures: cleaning, power‑washing, vacuuming, lubricating, filter changes.
Installs auxiliary components (valves, ducts, blowers, dampers, etc.) following blueprints.
Coordinates with repair and maintenance teams for collaborative work.
Installs, connects, and adjusts thermostats, humidistats, and timers.
Generates work orders addressing deficiencies.
Connects pipes or tubing to equipment and fuel/water/refrigerant sources.
Assembles, positions, and mounts heating/cooling equipment per blueprints.
Studies blueprints, design specs, and manufacturer recommendations to ensure proper installation.
Cuts or drills holes in floors, walls, or roofs using power tools.
Measures, cuts, threads, or bends pipe/tubing using pipe‑fitters tools.
Fabricates, assembles, or installs ductwork or chassis parts using metal‑working tools or welding equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education / Experience
High school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of documented HVAC‑level operation, maintenance, and repair experience.
Competencies
Knowledge of HVAC repair, maintenance, and installation techniques, electrical circuits, wiring, motor principles, and local codes.
Effective communication with internal team and customers; ability to follow written and verbal instructions, interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, perform math, and diagnose problems.
Physical ability to operate machinery and equipment, handle electronic/diagnostic tools, and perform repetitive motions.
Physical demands: stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, walking, lifting, grasping, and moving or carrying up to 50 lb occasionally or 20 lb frequently.
Physical Demands Field technicians will regularly push/pull heavy loads, climb, crouch, maneuver obstacles, and may sit or stand for extended periods. The role is physically active.
Work Environment Field work with wide temperature variations; may be outdoors.
