Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to operate and set up 3-axis vertical CNC milling machines for precision machining of stainless steel components. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with tight tolerances, blueprint interpretation, and quality-focused machining in a job-shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot 3-axis vertical CNC mills
Machine stainless steel parts to specified tolerances and surface finish requirements
Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions
Load, edit, and run CNC programs (G-code or conversational as applicable)
Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and offsets for stainless steel machining
Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring tools
Monitor tool wear and make adjustments to maintain part quality and cycle time
Perform basic machine maintenance and keep equipment clean and organized
Follow all safety, quality, and shop procedures
Communicate effectively with engineering, programming, and quality teams
Required Qualifications
2+ years of CNC machining experience on 3-axis vertical mills
Experience machining stainless steel (e.g., 303, 304, 316, 17-4)
Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges
Knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for stainless steel
Basic understanding of CNC programming and offsets
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Haas, Fanuc, or similar CNC controls
Ability to edit G-code at the machine
Experience in low- to medium-volume production or job shop environments
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
