Overview Valkyrie Enterprises has a contingent position for an Engineering Technician I who will be a key support to assembling, installing equipment or parts requiring basic mechanical, electrical, wiring, soldering, or connecting skills or performing computer maintenance and operations.

This position is located in the Silverdale, WA area and surrounding shipyards.

Pay Hourly: $23.00–$28.00

Job Description

Perform installation, removal, and upgrades for electrical/electronic/IC/C4I tasks such as wiring of terminal boxes, testing, and verifying connections, performing continuity and resistance checks on cables, and troubleshooting.

Perform system testing to evaluate performance and functionality.

Use drawings, technical manuals, instructions, standards, and specifications to perform system installation, removal, and upgrade activities.

Understand cableway improvement and inspections.

May perform fire watch and confined space duties.

Perform and demonstrate trade skills gained through school or proven experience.

Qualifications

Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and 1.5 to 2 years of experience in the field.

Must have thorough knowledge of power tools, shipboard operations, and NAVSEA standards.

Must have a Cableway Improvement Certification.

Must be able to complete work duties with minimal supervision.

Working toward a Multi‑Pin Connector Certification.

Fiber Handler Certification.

Desired Qualifications

Prefer ability to obtain a passport.

Prefer ability to communicate effectively.

Prefer specialized qualifications such as Fiber Fabrication, Shipyard Competent Person, or Permit Authorization Individual.

Security Requirements

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards, and naval installations.

Travel Requirements

Travel required up to 70%.

Employee must be able to obtain appropriate identification credentials (e.g., REAL ID) by start of position if position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases. More information regarding REAL ID can be found at https://www.dhs.gov/real-id.

Physical Requirements

Repetitive motion, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking, grasping, talking, hearing, and visual acuity (depth perception).

Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and possibly claustrophobia due to close quarters or narrow aisles/passages.

Protective clothing or equipment and face shields or goggles must be worn when welding, cutting, or working with molten metal.
