Company Overview As an essential business, we manufacture industrial metal products used by Fortune 500 companies – think grocery stocking carts, distribution center carts, and cart corrals. Your work will have a direct impact on products that millions rely on every day.
Position Summary Setup and operate welding equipment safely, productively and ergonomically while manufacturing quality parts and assemblies.
Requirements
Previous manufacturing experience preferred; MIG welding of steel and/or aluminum products.
Responsibilities
Setup and operate welders to hand weld products safely, efficiently, and with quality and ergonomic standards.
Adjust welders as needed to maintain part quality.
Load welding fixtures or jigs correctly.
Continuously produce at an acceptable level of productivity with some supervision.
Keep work area clean and neat; complete daily cleaning schedules and maintain company 5S score.
Capable of setting own machine for materials welded, producing little smoke or splatter.
Sets up own fixtures without supervision.
Produces acceptable-quality welds with good workmanship and very few rejects.
Consistently produces at an acceptable level of productivity with some supervision.
Moderate product knowledge: able to produce products from layout sheets, knows model numbers and required components.
Read and interpret manufacturing prints to produce quality parts; understands C2Q weld callouts.
Follow preventive maintenance of machines and tools; complete Operator P.M checklist weekly or daily.
Produces high quality welds with very minimal rejects.
Print drawings off engineering folders.
Verify and refer to Bill of Materials (BOM).
Has ability to substitute as Lead when needed.
Consistently produces at an acceptable level of productivity (90%+ of given rate) with very little supervision.
Use prints to check first piece quality for others.
Work with Engineering Department to add C2Q into job drawings and fixtures/jigs.
Physical Activity & Requirements
Balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to work overhead.
Walk or stand for a minimum of 8 hours with limited breaks.
Push and pull materials.
Finger and grasp parts and components.
Exert up to 60 pounds of force frequently.
Have close visual acuity to perform inspections and operate machines.
Tolerate extremes in weather and machine temperature.
Tolerate loud noise.
Extensive use of power and hand tools.
