What to Expect
Tesla is looking for an energetic and highly motivated Engineering Process Technician to join the Can Stamping Team. As a vital part of the process development, implementation, and improvement teams, this role focuses on creating innovative processes, equipment, and tooling to support Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. Responsibilities include performing process-sustaining tasks for the manufacturing line, addressing out-of-control processes, contributing to yield improvement, and supporting engineering and manufacturing initiatives.
What You'll Do
Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to sustain and improve key process metrics
Perform equipment setup, operation, and minor preventative maintenance tasks to meet safety, quality, and efficiency standards
Identify problems and propose potential solutions to troubleshoot issues in maintenance and production using SPC or other data analysis methods
Support engineering activities by conducting experiments, analyzing data, and documenting production and quality results in a clear, concise manner
Develop, improve, and train others on manufacturing instructions for equipment or new processes in a standardized format
Provide daily coverage of production line processes to ensure smooth operations and respond promptly to out-of-control processes to minimize costs
Support lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives by managing parts inventory, executing repairs, and proactively assisting co-workers
What You'll Bring
Degree in any Manufacturing field or equivalent experience, or a technical certificate with industrial/manufacturing experience
Previous experience in electrode manufacturing or related industries such as battery production, fuel cells, or electrochemical processing or previous experience with metal forming or stamping related industries such as beverage can forming is highly desirable
Experience with operating and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
Understanding of quality control principles and ability to perform inspections and tests
Proven ability to analyze test data, malfunctions, and deviations for process corrections
Familiarity with statistical process control, process capability, and gauge reliability and repeatability; knowledge of SQL, Python, and robotic programming is a plus a strong organizational and multitasking skills with a focus on safety, collaboration, and attention to detail
Must have command of the English language, written and verbal
Essential Physical Demands
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Frequently and repetitively lift, push, and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Frequently and repetitively bend, lift, and reach to interact with equipment
Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection, bump cap, while adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
