Overview The Mendocino Companies own and operate extensive timberland and forest product manufacturing operations, constituting the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA and the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. We employ nearly 950 people across the region and operate a 25‑megawatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair equipment and rolling stock including trucks, forklifts, frontend loaders, heelbooms, pickups, quads, and other rolling stock.

Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles; including cleaning, inspecting, testing, and operating. Perform servicing and change tires as needed.

Review maintenance records of MFP/MRC vehicles, monitor preventative maintenance schedules, and update records after maintenance or repair work is completed.

Comply with hazardous materials written programs.

Operate power tools, jacks, hoists, grinders, welder, and cutting torch; may cut, braze, weld and fabricate.

Work as an integral part of the Company shop team.

Clean up shop, wash bay and surrounding area daily.

Follow safe work practices at all times.

Maintain written service and repair records.

Position travels locally, usually by company vehicle, up to 25% of the time.

Qualifications

One year certificate from college or technical school.

Minimum five years related experience preferred.

Master welding and oxy‑acetylene torch skills, including MIG, Stick, Carbon Arc, Gas Welding, Brazing and Soldering Steel and Aluminum preferred.

Ability to perform metal fabrication with precise dimensions and specifications preferred.

Ability to read and comprehend electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics preferred.

Ability to rebuild engines, transmissions, differentials, planetary sets, hydraulic pumps and motors, and hydraulic cylinders preferred.

Ability to utilize diagnostic equipment, including manufacturer software, scan tool, scope, multi‑meter, etc.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Demonstrates solid knowledge of proper rigging and lifting.

Must maintain and carry a valid driver license and remain eligible and capable of operating company vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines.

Basic Algebra, Geometry and computer skills including MS Office.

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.

Frequently required to climb or balance; occasionally required to sit and taste or smell.

Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.

Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions.

Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock; explosives; vibration; and loud noise level.

Position requires wearing eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, leather or rubber gloves, chemical goggles, sleeve protection, dust mask, chaps and hard hat.

Position travels locally, usually by car, up to 25% of the time.
