Role Overview The Landscape Technician maintains grounds and landscapes around all YMCA buildings and facilities throughout the year.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY None

Essential Functions

Serve as a role model, embodying the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA.

Ensure safety for all individuals on YMCA properties and grounds.

Perform mowing, weed eating/blowing, raking leaves, trimming trees and bushes, and other landscape duties to maintain an appealing and safe environment.

Complete snow removal tasks such as plowing parking lots and shoveling sidewalks, steps, and doorways during winter.

Operate and maintain lawn care and snow removal equipment safely and efficiently.

Identify and address hazards on camp grounds.

Make minor repairs to buildings and facilities as needed.

Clean and maintain floors, wash windows and screens, assemble and disassemble screens and storm windows.

Remove trash and debris daily.

Participate in YMCA financial development efforts, including the Annual Campaign.

Maintain required certifications.

Adhere to all YMCA policies and procedures.

Follow safety rules and emergency procedures.

Maintain regular and timely attendance at scheduled meetings.

Perform all other duties assigned by the COO.

Education And Experience Requirements

Operate various power equipment: lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, etc.

Use hand tools for landscaping.

Follow instructions and complete assignments.

Possess extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.

Exhibit excellent time management skills.

Certifications And Other Qualifications

Pass a background check.

Maintain a valid driver’s license.

Complete YMCA certification training programs within 30 days of hire, if not already certified.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to perform mowing and snow removal duties, including sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, lifting up to 75 pounds, and operating power equipment. Must handle chemicals, solvents, and hazardous materials. Must read, write, and follow instructions and respond quickly to emergencies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, varying noise levels, indoor and outdoor work, travel between locations, and weather conditions.
