Position Overview OFC Creations is seeking a skilled and dependable Scenic Carpenter to support the construction, installation, and maintenance of scenic elements for theatrical productions and events. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in theatrical carpentry, scenic construction, or fabrication who can work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate closely with production leadership.
The Scenic Carpenter plays a critical role in bringing creative designs to life while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency across all scenic projects.
Key Responsibilities Scenic Construction & Installation
Build, install, and maintain scenic elements and set pieces for OFC productions
Execute assigned construction projects in coordination with the Director of Theatrical Experiences
Meet project deadlines, ensuring scenic elements are completed and usable well before first performances
Assist with load‑ins, strikes, and scenic changeovers as needed
Perform basic scenic painting and finishing work
Materials, Tools & Workspace Management
Create and maintain materials lists for scenic projects
Coordinate ordering, purchasing, and acquiring materials
Maintain scenic shop, storage, and work areas in a safe, professional, and usable condition
Assist with inventory management of scenic and paint supplies
Collaboration & Operations
Work with Operations Manager to document scenic builds for rental inventory, including dimensions and photos
Use OFC's production calendars to track schedules, deadlines, and space availability
Collaborate with production staff, designers, and leadership to support overall production goals
Support scenic projects across multiple venues as needed (including off‑site locations)
Qualifications
Experience in scenic carpentry, construction, fabrication, or related trades
Ability to work independently and manage assigned projects
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Comfortable using carpentry tools and working in theatrical environments
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor
Reliable transportation
Availability that aligns with project timelines, including occasional evenings or weekends
