Location Description Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and can produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.
Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY : Operators oversee dryer packagers, accurately record readings, moistures and adjustments, and perform minor mechanical repairs. The role ensures compliance with safety work rules, reinforces safety as a core value, and follows policies related to Food Safety & Quality to reduce product and process variability.
Proficient understanding, demonstration and commitment to the Level I checklist.
Follow all LOTO for safe operation.
Demonstrate proper use and handling of chemicals.
Perform pre‑operational inspections for sanitation.
Complete master sanitation schedule daily.
Properly sanitize the heat exchanger.
Continuously check code dates/labels and product quality.
Know the maximum pounds per hour for the product.
Ensure all paperwork is completed, printed and properly distributed.
Monitor case weights continuously.
Adjust equipment minimally and troubleshoot equipment problems.
Start up, shut down and operate all dryers.
Understand adjustments needed for airflow, solids, scales, machines, agglomerated product, and crystallization tanks.
Review and correct packaging and any deficiencies with the stacker and filler.
Inspect sifter overflow and empty.
Record gauge readings hourly.
Check for wear on nozzles and replace spray pattern when needed.
Boil out lines/pump tear down, sand reassemble them.
Set up and follow procedures for CIP/COP, dust collector, packing room, filter press, fall restraint system, catwalk equipment, etc.
Review vat selection for sequences.
Collect, process, and record data and samples properly.
Perform metal detector checks and sieve tests every 2 hours and when switching shifts.
Assemble and set up a taper and a pump.
Read production order sheets, make skid tags, and identify ID labels and product descriptions.
Calibrate moisture machine, solids machine, and pH meter.
Understand causes for wet downs, the organizational sequence of pallets in the Hot Room, how high pressures affect membrane performance, and egg clarification for Lyso process.
Make and mix culture, siphon, SLS for feed vats, yeast, etc.
Make proper connections for egg run and CIP lyso lines.
Resin regeneration process and transfer resin out or into columns.
Dump recon and add it to de‑sugar silos and feed vats.
Follow proper SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
Assume personal responsibility to insure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone by adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
Able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
Insure regulatory compliance at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Ability to load and unload egg and material trailers.
Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
Must obtain and maintain a company pallet jack and forklift license. Experience with pallet jack and/or forklift preferred.
Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.
Basic computer skills.
Add and subtract two‑digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s using American money, weight measurement, volume and distance.
Solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
Demonstrate open and honest communication.
Maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others to complete work assignments.
Able to safely lift and carry 50 lbs.
Able to work independently or with others in a team environment.
Self‑motivated and willing to ask questions and seek direction.
Display responsible behavior at work.
Open to change.
Work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty and humid environments.
Work around required cleaning solutions.
Good hand‑eye coordination.
