Job description This position works under general supervision, utilizing diversified procedures and standards. The candidate has mastered a mechanical engineering skill set and maintains a thorough knowledge of new developments and technology. Heavily involved in pre-and post-sale support of electrical aerospace applications.
Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Utilizing AutoCAD Software to generate detailed drawings, bills of materials, and assembly drawings under the guidance of a program engineer.
Utilizing SolidWorks software to generate layouts and models for internal and customer review and approval.
Mechanical designer for electrical lighting components (lamp bulbs, mounting brackets, heatsinks, and control cabinets) and systems design tasks.
Responsible for maintaining drawings, control files, and engineering change control tasks.
Other duties include drawing checking, writing engineering change requests, and presenting design review meetings for internal personnel and NBP customers.

Work Environment This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as lab coats and safety glasses.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The position also requires the ability to perform physically demanding activities. Must be able to push, bend, stoop, pull, lift, and carry numerous components, computers, and equipment. Maximum single equipment and / or component weight up to 25 pounds. May involve repetitive hand motion.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel Travel out-of-area and overnight may be expected.
Required Education and Experience 1. Minimum 2-year Associates’ degree in Engineering, drafting, or related science.
2. Minimum 5 years of work experience as a mechanical designer or minimum 5 years as a mechanical draftsperson.
3. Working knowledge of AutoCAD LT and SolidWorks Software.
4. Strong knowledge of drawing requirements of the technical data package for commercial and military applications in compliance with ASME Y14.100 and MIL-DTL-31000.
5. Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M.
Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
Strong technical aptitude expected.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Access) is needed.
General understanding of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, welding, brazing, machining, heat treating, 3d printing) is preferred.
The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter who can work independently and in a team environment.
