Assistant Construction Manager - Manufacturing (Minneapolis) Assisting the Construction Project Manager, Project Manager, Site Manager, and/or the Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) Project Manager or Program Manager with day‑to‑day management of team safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, procurement, proposals, estimates, documentation, turnover, client interface, field-based activities, and other duties required to execute EPC projects across multiple industries including aviation, commercial building, electrical transmission & distribution, facility, manufacturing, oil & gas, power generation, process, and water.

Responsibilities

Adhere to company safety programs, training, and policies; collaborate with the project team to manage Safety & Health performance.

Collaborate with the Project Management team to build client relationships and interface on proposals and project items.

Assist in internal and external project risk reviews and consult with Legal as required.

Coordinate development and implementation of the Project Execution Plan, Quality Assurance Plan, Safety & Health Plan, Subcontracting Plan, Project Staffing Plan, Organization Chart, and Procurement Plan.

Contribute to negotiation, approval, and execution of prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders.

Develop site mobilization and demobilization plans, supporting the Construction Manager or Site Manager with implementation.

Secure required project permits.

Support bidder registration and pre‑qualification efforts.

Prepare Request for Proposal (RFP), support scope development, bid selection, and contract creation for subcontractor and client contractor selection.

Support implementation of project specifications, drawing releases, and design changes.

Execute downstream contract administration: RFI’s, submittals, meeting minutes, change management, and claims mitigation.

Support project cost reporting, scheduling, WBS development, set‑up and closeout, and field progress tracking.

Prepare and report project status, risks, schedule, costs, and cash flows at corporate and stakeholder meetings; develop and distribute minutes.

Support invoicing for prime contract, subcontract, client contractor, and supplier.

Establish, review, and implement project documentation and filing systems.

Verify insurance, licenses, taxes/duties, and securities for project contractors and subcontractors.

Conduct project safety, quality, progress, and financial audits as required.

Facilitate materials receiving, inventory control, storage, and transportation.

Collaborate with Superintendents and Site Managers to ensure subcontractor compliance with contract documents, safety, quality, and schedule.

Facilitate project turnover documentation, recordkeeping, warranty, and close‑out processes.

Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures on all project activities.

Assist in developing labor agreements with building trades.

Assist with onboarding craft/field supervision.

Analyze composite crew rates to determine labor and equipment costs.

Work with field operations/craft HR to appropriately staff projects.

Monitor labor burdens, classifications, benefits, and labor laws.

Maintain accurate craft classifications and progression records.

Ensure craft competency and training standards.

Estimate, forecast, and manage craft install unit rates and production rates to achieve earned value, schedule, and cost metrics.

Assist with craft training.

Manage construction equipment inventory.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Comply with all company policies and standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience; degree may be substituted with equivalent experience.

Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).

Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management software preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational and analytical problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail.

Ability to handle large volumes of work and multitask in a fast‑paced environment.

Multiple years of onsite construction or program management experience in aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, transportation, or water preferred.

Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Must meet company driving requirements.

Compensation $105,000 – $160,000 annually (base salary; eligible for discretionary year‑end incentive bonus).
