Essential Functions of Position:
Performs responsible skilled and semi-skilled or unskilled manual work operating trucks, mowing equipment and other equipment utilized in park maintenance; does related work as required.
The work of this class involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of trucks and similar automotive equipment to transport men or materials, and to maintain and construct various public facilities.
When the nature of work does not require constant operation of assigned equipment, employees in this class participate in manual labor incidental to the job such as loading and unloading of equipment, and in performing unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance in the park service field and construction tasks.
Assignments may be given in detail for each job, or work may follow well-established routines.
Work is reviewed by a superior for quality, quantity, safety of operation and care of equipment.
Employees in this class may be assigned to somewhat more difficult and responsible tasks and may operate various pieces of light automotive and park service equipment.
Position is responsible for the maintenance of indoor and outdoor facilities, open green space, outdoor areas, and athletic fields and mowing and landscaping.
Performs or serves as the lead in building and park maintenance: buildings, pavilions, structures, offices, bathrooms, hallways, shops, grounds, shoreline, docks and garbage collection.
Programs and rentals: assist with set-up and cleanup of programs, events and special events, as required.
General horticulture practices: weeding, weed-eating, mowing grass, pruning, fertilization/other chemical applications, trimming, edging and snow removal.
Digs and backfill ditches by hand.
Assists or serves as lead in the installation of irrigation.
Operates mowing equipment and machinery.
Mows golf course greens, fairways and rough.
Participates in construction and maintenance activities related to assigned equipment.
Reports need for maintenance or repair of equipment.
