Sterile Processing Technician II – FT-Days – Central Sterile Process

Position Objective The objective of this position is to assemble and sterilize all instruments, instrument trays, utensils, and linen packs, and to perform distribution functions related to case carts and sterile instrumentation.
Essential Job Duties
Operate steam and plasma sterilizers, including loading, unloading, and moving sterilizer carts.
Run and record necessary tests on all steamed and plasma equipment, ensuring the Bowie-Dick removal test is performed each morning and after repairs.
Report all malfunctions to the biomedical department, department supervisor, and O.R. supervisor.
Confirm competency and skill development of staff, providing feedback to the Training and Staff Development Coordinator and Clinical Operations Supervisor or Manager.
Conduct spot checks of paperwork, labeling, and biological reads.
Inspect packages to ensure all external indicators, filters, and labels are securely affixed; return non‑satisfactory products to the instrument room.
Perform high‑level disinfection (HLD) with 100 % accuracy.
Utilize patient‑specific pick lists to gather surgical instruments and disposable supplies requested by the attending surgeon or peri‑operative representatives.
Document case cart build process in SPM and update the record as items are fulfilled; respond to O.R. requests and participate in O.R. huddles as needed.
Communicate unmet surgical supply requests to leadership for resolution assistance.
Perform scheduled and cyclic physical inventory of supplies and instruments within the department.
Educational/Experience Requirements Required Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Experience:
Completion of a Central Sterile Processing program through an accredited institution; at least two years of experience as a sterile processing technician. Advancement to Technician II is based on department needs, competency, and performance.
Required License/Certifications Preferred Certifications:
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or CBSPD certification.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands Employees in this position will be exposed to blood‑borne pathogens. Medium work effort is required, including exerting up to 50 lb of force occasionally, up to 30 lb frequently, and up to 10 lb constantly to move objects.
Must be able to frequently lift to 35 lb, stoop, bend, pull, and place and retrieve material.
Pay Range $20.65 – $25.00 USD per hour
