Position Summary The Slitter/Rewind Operator is responsible for operating a high‑speed slitter/rewinder in a fast‑paced flexographic printing environment.
This role ensures that printed materials are properly slit, rewound, and inspected for quality compliance before final processing or shipment.
Attention to detail is critical to maintaining our high‑quality standards.
In addition to operating equipment, the operator is accountable for basic maintenance and troubleshooting to keep machines running efficiently and prevent downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and adjust slitting and rewinding equipment according to job specifications.
Perform visual inspections of finished rolls to ensure they meet customer specifications and quality standards.
Identify and correct defects, ensuring product consistency and integrity.
Perform light maintenance: cleaning, lubricating, and replacing minor parts to keep machines operating efficiently.
Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and escalated major maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
Handle various substrates, ensuring proper tension control and slitting accuracy.
Operate material handling equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts, hand trucks) to transport materials.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
Communicate effectively with managers, supervisors, and team members to ensure efficient workflow.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process enhancements to improve productivity and reduce waste.
Basic Qualifications
Ability to accurately distinguish colors and subtle color variations for quality control.
Mechanical aptitude with the capacity to perform basic repairs and machine adjustments.
Ability to work all scheduled hours, including overtime, evenings, and weekends as required.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs in a manufacturing environment.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with supervisors and coworkers.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
Post‑secondary technical or vocational training in printing, manufacturing, or related fields.
2+ years of experience in slitting, rewinding, or flexographic printing within the labeling industry.
Experience with basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, inks, and chemicals.
Requires prolonged standing, frequent lifting, and repetitive movements.
Fast‑paced production setting with strict quality and efficiency requirements.
