Job Opportunity We have a terrific opportunity for a self‑motivated experienced heavy truck mechanic at our shop facility in Bryan, Texas. This role involves performing maintenance and repairs on several types of heavy diesel trucks and trailers to keep them in safe working condition. The fleet consists of ready‑mix trucks, dump trucks, tractors, and pneumatic trucks/trailers.
Minimum Qualifications
Certifications and/or technical school experience is preferred.
Previous mechanical experience working with heavy diesel trucks and trailers is preferred.
Must be able to work flexible shifts which include days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong troubleshooting skills.
Must have knowledge of several types of heavy diesel trucks and trailers preferred.
Must have basic hand tools, pneumatics, and some specialty tools.
Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and physical.
Must display a professional and courteous attitude towards all team members.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Perform significant maintenance and repairs on all types of equipment and assist with repairs/improvements/maintenance of equipment to assure it is in safe working condition.
Safely operate standard and specialty tools, welders, hoists, and other lifting devices daily.
Troubleshoot equipment maintenance problems, accurately diagnose components, and determine repair method and extent. Read, interpret, analyze, and apply information in technical manuals and schematics.
Anticipate needed parts and supplies, disassemble equipment and parts, fabricate parts when needed, and reassemble equipment and parts.
Clean work areas.
Accurately complete work orders or other maintenance repair documentation daily.
Perform oil changes, air/hydraulic brakes, suspensions, transmissions, and general maintenance.
Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written). Frequent contact with others within and outside the company.
Work independently or as a team player with excellent people skills and ability to maintain positive customer relations.
Communicate with drivers regarding vehicle condition reports and make appropriate repairs.
Oversee multiple projects and priorities while maintaining tight deadlines; highly organized with attention to detail.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, MSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulations.
May be required to operate and maintain a company vehicle to perform field service repair and then operate repaired equipment to ensure proper working condition.
Maintain timely and regular attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned as needed.
Physical Requirements
Walking, bending, squatting, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
Heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
Use of hands for grasping and fine manipulations.
Effective communication using speech, vision, and hearing.
Head movement/rotation in any direction.
Climbing in and out of trucks, on and off equipment, multiple times a day.
Working Conditions
Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) in accordance with company policy.
Exposure to dust, fumes, gases.
Exposure to inside and outside working conditions; cold or hot temperatures.
Working in a high traffic shop environment.
