Central Processing Technician - Central Processing - Per Diem/Varied Join Antelope Valley Medical Center as a Central Processing Technician. Under the supervision of the Central Processing Manager, the role performs a wide variety of duties requiring high accuracy and provides technical and clerical assistance to plan, organize and control the workflow to maintain departmental services.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assemble and transport case carts to area of use according to physician preference card.

Decontaminate, prepare, assemble, store and dispense reusable equipment; inspect, prepare, assemble and wrap instrument trays.

Operate sterilization equipment; clean and maintain equipment.

Maintain and monitor established quality control systems (Biological, chemical, mechanical).

Order, receive, inventory, store and dispense sterile and non‑sterile supplies and equipment.

Maintain aseptic working conditions daily cleaning and disinfecting work surfaces.

Answer and place telephone calls to and from customers.

Decontaminate reusable equipment using manufacturer recommendations.

Assist in orientation and on‑the‑job training of new personnel.

Assist in the maintenance of records, reports and department statistics.

Assist in monitoring quality control within the department.

Assist with inventory and ordering of stock and non‑stock items.

Qualifications

High school graduate or GED required.

Minimum six months experience in Central Processing and/or completion of coursework leading to certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician or Surgical Technologist required.

One or more years Central Processing experience preferred.

Sterile Processing Certification within 1 year required.

Required Licensure and Certifications

Central Service Certification preferred.

Key Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Work performed throughout the facility and in the sterile Central Processing Department.

Frequent standing and walking during shift.

Frequent lifting, pushing and pulling of up to 50 lbs.

Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling and reaching.

Potential exposure to chemicals, biohazards and blood‑borne infectious waste requiring PPE.
