Automotive Garage Technician – Amentum
Position Overview
This role includes a $1,000 bonus and a shift premium for afternoon shifts (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.).

Shift Details
Afternoon shift (3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.) with a potential transition from training days to afternoon shifts after a couple of months. Shift premium applies.
Responsibilities
Prep/de‑prep vehicles for wind tunnel instrumentation (installation/removal)
Operate wind tunnels and chassis dynos
Interface and support customers in the garage, soak rooms, and test cells
Respond to all radio calls as a first responder
Receive and release vehicles in the database
Maintain status of vehicles across multiple databases
Install and remove canopy from test vehicles
Wash vehicles as necessary
Support cold‑chamber defrost/defog testing
Provide driver support for test cells and soak rooms
Assist all technicians and keep garage areas clean and organized
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and/or Skill Requirements
High School Diploma
Availability for afternoon shift (3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.)
General knowledge of automotive parts and basic electrical test methodologies
Basic computer and interfacing skills
General technical aptitude
Good customer‑service skills and attitude
Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years’ experience as an automotive mechanic or wind tunnel/dyno operator
Physical Requirements
Lift up to 50 lbs. (60 % of time)
Safety glasses, gloves, hardened‑toe slip‑resistant shoes, and cold gear as required
Sitting (50 % of time), standing (50 %), bending (25 %), stooping (25 %)
High noise level requiring hearing protection (20 % of time)
Work Environment
Inside test facility (90 %)
Extreme temperatures ranging from –40 °F to 140 °F (limited exposure; 10 %)
Energized samples and rotating parts (50 %)
Occasional local travel (5 %)
Equipment and Machines Involved in Work Tasks
Computers, copy machines, fax machines (25 %)
Low‑lift forklift (to be certified on site; 15 %)
Hand tools, multimeters, and other electrical diagnostic devices (10 %)
Criticality of Attendance
Regular 8‑hour days, Monday–Friday with occasional overtime and weekends
Excellent punctuality and consistent attendance required; future shift flexibility may be needed
Other Essential Functions
Must complete and pass a pre‑employment drug screen, health performance evaluation, and background check
Altitude exam, audiogram, and power motor vehicle exam
Professional behavior at all times with customers, management, and coworkers
Clear, concise, and accurate communication in English (verbal and written)
Appropriate grooming and dress; no safety risks
Positive work atmosphere through professional behavior and communication
Dependable personal transportation to site required
